HKUST joined hands with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP) and other six Hong Kong universities and successfully held the Hong Kong Techathon 2021 from 2 to 9 Jan 2021. The challenge received a record-breaking number of applications this year – 937 participants (including 331 HKUST students and alumni). HKUST teams won various awards in each theme of the challenge.

Hong Kong Techathon 2021 is a 7-day challenge where programmers, engineers, designers, marketers and entrepreneurs will work collaboratively over a week to come up with ideas and prototypes and pitch for seed fund and incubation support! It opened to the students and alumni from the member universities for application. In view of the pandemic situation, the challenge turned online this year.  It started by the Techathon Mixer in Day 1 which provided the opportunity for the participants to meet like-minded friends from different universities and form their teams, followed by a series of workshops and mentorship service to equip the participants with sufficient knowledge in developing their business ideas.
